WdBasic

Example report – sample data

What a WdBasic monthly report looks like

This is a made-up report for an imaginary accountancy firm, Harrison & Co. Every name and number is invented to show the format. It is not a real customer and not a promise of any result.

The summary at the top

5 problems found

2 high, 2 medium, 1 low priority. The high ones come first.

3 changes proposed

1 approved, 1 waiting for you, 1 approved and then undone.

2 alerts this month

One short outage and one certificate expiring soon.

1. The audit, in plain language

Each finding says where it is, what is wrong and why it matters. Priority tells you what to deal with first.

Sample audit findings for an imaginary site
PriorityWhereWhat we foundWhy it matters
HighWhole siteWordPress is set to discourage search enginesGoogle is being asked not to list the site. Nothing else matters until this is changed.
HighHome and 3 other pagesPages share the same titleGoogle cannot tell the pages apart, and visitors see the same line in results.
Medium7 pagesNo meta descriptionGoogle writes its own snippet, which is often a poor summary of the page.
MediumServices pageNo answers to common questionsA short FAQ with markup can help the page answer what people actually search.
Low5 imagesImages over 1 MBThey slow the page down on mobile connections.

2. Search Console, explained

Google Search Console shows how your site does in Google, but its screens are built for specialists. The report translates the numbers and says what they mean for you.

Weekly impressions in Google for an imaginary site. Sample data made up for this page, not a real site or a typical result.

Reading it: the site appeared in Google more often each week across the sample period, and clicks rose with it. In a real report we would also say which searches and pages drove the change, and what we do not yet know.

Impressions
How many times your site appeared in a Google results page. Appearing is not the same as being clicked.
Clicks
How many times someone clicked through to your site from Google.
Average position
Where your pages tend to appear. Position 1 is the top. Lower numbers are better.

3. Changes proposed, for you to approve or undo

Struck-through text is what the page says now. The green text is what we suggest. Nothing is published until you approve it, and approved changes can be undone.
